• Treaty One Land Code – Peguis Community Engagement Sessions

    Join us for our Treaty One Land Code Information Sessions! We are excited to invite you to our upcoming information sessions, where the Treaty One Team will answer any questions you have about our Treaty One lands and about the upcoming vote being held for our community members. In addition, there will be refreshments and door prizes available for those in attendance! Naawi-Oodena is the first jointly held urban reserve of the seven Treaty One First Nations, located on the former the Kapyong Barracks lands in Winnipeg. As of December 16, 2022, Naawi-Oodena has officially been converted to joint reserve land and is slated to become the single largest First Nations-led Urban Economic Development Zone in Canada. A successful vote means that the seven First Nations can govern and manage our Treaty One lands—together—as one collective government. This land code DOES NOT affect the Peguis First Nation’s reserve lands.     Join us for our Treaty One Land Code Information Sessions! Our Treaty One Team is here to answer all your questions about the upcoming Treaty One Land Code vote and our Joint Reserve lands. Naawi-Oodena, located on the former Kapyong Barracks lands in Winnipeg, is now an official shared Urban Reserve among the seven Treaty One First Nations. This historic transformation happened on December 16, 2022. We're on track to create Canada's largest First Nations-led Urban Economic Development Zone, bringing growth and progress to our community. The Land Code is what allows the seven Treaty One First Nations to collectively govern and manage our Treaty One Joint Reserve lands. The Treaty One Joint Reserve Land Code DOES NOT affect Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation's own reserve lands.     Treaty One will be hosting an In-Community Info Session in Roseau River on January 28, 2026 for Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation (RRAFN) members. This session will provide members with an opportunity to receive updates on Treaty One initiatives, projects, and priorities currently underway. Throughout the afternoon, Treaty One departments will present information on key areas of work including: Economic development at Naawi-Oodena Intergovernmental and policy relations Planning and infrastructure Workforce development pathways Upcoming construction and build-out activity Members will also have the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and stay informed on Treaty One’s strategic direction and upcoming milestones. These sessions are part of Treaty One’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and open communication with our Nations.
