Introducing the Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market The Treaty One Development Corporation is excited to launch the first-ever Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market — a new community initiative taking place bi-weekly throughout the summer of 2025. Designed to showcase Indigenous entrepreneurs, artists, and food vendors, the market is an opportunity to bring people together in celebration of culture, creativity, and local commerce. Held at the Oodena Gas & Convenience Store parking lot in Winnipeg, the Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market aims to create a welcoming space for the public to connect with local vendors, support small businesses, and enjoy a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. Market Schedule and Details The Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market will run every second Tuesday from June through September on the following dates: June 24 July 8 July 22 August 5 August 19 September 2 September 16 September 30 Market Hours: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PMFood Trucks: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Location:Oodena Gas & Convenience Store Parking Lot1871 Taylor Ave, Winnipeg, MB This inaugural market series will feature up to 35 vendors and 3 food trucks per event, offering everything from handcrafted goods and apparel to fresh produce, artwork, and ready-to-eat foods. Anishinaabe Days Market Feature As part of the 4th Annual Anishinaabe Days celebration, the Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market will host a special Indigenous Market on July 26 and 27, 2025. This weekend event invites First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists and entrepreneurs to share their work during a weekend of cultural celebration and community gathering. Vendor registration for Anishinaabe Days is available at a flat rate of $150.Please note: All food truck spaces for Anishinaabe Days are currently full. Vendor Opportunities We welcome Indigenous and non-Indigenous vendors to apply, with priority given to Indigenous artisans and makers. Vendors must provide their own equipment and are responsible for setup and cleanup. Vendor Type Daily Rate Full Season Rate (8 Days) Artisan/General $40 $280 Food Truck $125 $800 Vendor fees must be paid in full before market day. Seasonal registrations require advance payment. Vendor Expectations All vendors must review and agree to the full terms and guidelines outlined in the 2025 Vendor Information Package. Key responsibilities include: Arriving and unloading between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM Being fully set up by 3:45 PM Providing waste and recycling bins (if serving food) Complying with food safety and business regulations Maintaining a respectful, professional atmosphere Weather Contingency The Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market will operate rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, cancellations will be communicated by 10:00 AM on market day. Pre-paid vendors may request a refund or transfer their payment to a future date. This two-day gathering is an opportunity to experience Indigenous heritage through music, dance, food, and storytelling—an event for all to enjoy! Last year’s celebration brought together people from all walks of life for a weekend filled with cultural pride and community connection. From the heart-pounding energy of the powwow to the crowd-favorite Anishinaabe Idol singing competition, each part of the event showcases the beauty of Anishinaabe traditions. This year, we’re expanding the celebration with even more cultural programming, interactive workshops, and opportunities to connect. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a returning guest, Anishinaabe Days 2025 promises to be our biggest and most exciting event yet! Event Highlights Traditional Powwow Experience the heartbeat of Anishinaabe culture with a two-day powwow featuring talented drum groups, dancers in full regalia, and a celebration of resilience and tradition. Anishinaabe Idol A crowd-favorite singing competition where contestants showcase their vocal talents, competing for the title of Anishinaabe Idol 2025! Past winners have left the audience in awe—who will take the stage this year? Indigenous Market Browse handcrafted goods from Indigenous artisans, featuring beadwork, clothing, artwork, and more. Support local businesses and take home a piece of authentic Anishinaabe craftsmanship. Kids Activities We’re bringing back family-friendly fun with interactive activities for all ages! For the past two years, the Winnipeg Jets have set up an exciting ball hockey experience, giving young attendees a chance to play. Moccasin games and traditional storytelling will also be part of the fun. Food Trucks Indulge in a variety of delicious food options, from traditional Indigenous dishes to popular festival favorites. There’s something for everyone! Fireworks Cap off the celebration with a spectacular fireworks display that will light up the Naawi-Oodena sky on Saturday night!
