Honouring the TreatiesAs long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the rivers flowThe annual Treaties 1-11 Gathering is a significant event that unites up to 1,200 leaders, elders, youth, and community members from the numbered Treaty First Nations. This gathering provides an opportunity for leaders to engage in critical discussions on various topics such as political, legal, international, and communications strategies. In addition, other important topics include the Treaty framework and structure, land rights, access to healthcare and education, as well as pathways towards further healing from the residential school system. Anishinabe Days

The 2nd Annual Anishinabe Days Celebration, hosted by the Treaty One Nations, brings together members from across the Nations at Naawi-Oodena for a weekend filled with exciting activities. We have a great line-up of events, from a Traditional Pow Wow, to the return of our fan-favourite Anishinabe Idol Talent Show, free kids’ activities, an Indigenous Vendors Market, and food trucks, with fireworks on Saturday night, July 29. Come on down and celebrate with us, July 29 and 30, at Naawi-Oodena in the 500 Block of Kenaston Boulevard. We can’t wait to see you there! Vendor/Food Truck Information: Vendor spots are full. Treaty No.1 152nd Commemoration Celebration

Join us in Ceremony on August 3 at Lower Fort Garry to honour the 152nd anniversary since the signing of Treaty No. 1. To commemorate this important date, we will celebrate by beginning the day with a Pipe and Water Ceremony, to be followed by teachings on the History & Intent of the Treaties and a traditional feast.   We invite all to come together and be a part of this special celebration and to learn more about the Treaties. Your presence at the ceremonies on the historic grounds where the Treaty was signed will make this event truly memorable. Let's unite and honour our shared heritage on this important day!

Treaty One Land Code – Peguis Community Engagement Sessions

Join us for our Treaty One Land Code Information Sessions! We are excited to invite you to our upcoming information sessions, where the Treaty One Team will answer any questions you have about our Treaty One lands and about the upcoming vote being held for our community members. In addition, there will be refreshments and door prizes available for those in attendance! Naawi-Oodena is the first jointly held urban reserve of the seven Treaty One First Nations, located on the former the Kapyong Barracks lands in Winnipeg. As of December 16, 2022, Naawi-Oodena has officially been converted to joint reserve land and is slated to become the single largest First Nations-led Urban Economic Development Zone in Canada. A successful vote means that the seven First Nations can govern and manage our Treaty One lands—together—as one collective government. This land code DOES NOT affect the Peguis First Nation’s reserve lands. Naawi-Oodena, located on the former Kapyong Barracks lands in Winnipeg, is now an official shared Urban Reserve among the seven Treaty One First Nations. This historic transformation happened on December 16, 2022. We're on track to create Canada's largest First Nations-led Urban Economic Development Zone, bringing growth and progress to our community. The Land Code is what allows the seven Treaty One First Nations to collectively govern and manage our Treaty One Joint Reserve lands. The Treaty One Joint Reserve Land Code DOES NOT affect Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation's own reserve lands. This year we award former Canadian Senator, Justice, and member of Peguis First Nation, the Honourable Murray Sinclair, along with former Assembly of First Nations/Assemblee des premieres Nations National Chief & former Sagkeeng First Nation Chief, Phil Fontaine. The evening will feature a special performance by Peguis First Nations' very own folk and country singer-songwriter, William Prince. Prince's remarkable talent has earned him numerous accolades, including the Western Canadian Music Award for Aboriginal Artist of the Year in 2016 and the Juno Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year for his debut album, "Earthly Days," in 2017. He's also been recognized with Canadian Folk Music Awards, SOCAN Songwriting Prize, and Juno nominations for his outstanding contributions to music. Introducing the Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market The Treaty One Development Corporation is excited to launch the first-ever Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market — a new community initiative taking place bi-weekly throughout the summer of 2025. Designed to showcase Indigenous entrepreneurs, artists, and food vendors, the market is an opportunity to bring people together in celebration of culture, creativity, and local commerce. Held at the Oodena Gas & Convenience Store parking lot in Winnipeg, the Naawi-Oodena Seasonal Market aims to create a welcoming space for the public to connect with local vendors, support small businesses, and enjoy a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. This weekend event invites First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists and entrepreneurs to share their work during a weekend of cultural celebration and community gathering. Vendor registration for Anishinaabe Days is available at a flat rate of $150.Please note: All food truck spaces for Anishinaabe Days are currently full. Vendor Opportunities We welcome Indigenous and non-Indigenous vendors to apply, with priority given to Indigenous artisans and makers. Vendors must provide their own equipment and are responsible for setup and cleanup.
