POSITION SUMMARY: The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Youth Support Services Coordinator. The Youth Support Services Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of the Post-majority Support Services Program (PMSS). The program is part of the First Nation Child and Family Services Reform (FNFS). The Youth Support Services Coordinator will establish a database of BON Youth aging out of care and young adults formerly in care regardless of residency. Once the date base is established the Youth Support Services Coordinator will provide a full range of support services to the registered youth.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Previous experience working with youth.
- Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate.
- Successfully graduated from a post-secondary program in the area of social or child development
- Have two (2) years of experience working with a variety of people in the area of social or child development.
- Have a creative and confident approach to challenges, problem-solving and endless patience.
- A passion and positive attitude to work with youth with special needs and make a difference for them and their families.
- Demonstrated knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to diverse cultures and traditions.
- Demonstrated skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of, and capability to apply, Indigenous approaches in working with families and children.
- Ability to collect CFS compensation information and support BON Members to apply, providing guidance through the process.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A valid current CPR and First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Must have a valid Manitoba class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable insured passenger vehicle, this position requires travel within the Brokenhead and surrounding areas
- Ability to work flexible work hours (i.e. variable times including days, evenings and weekends.)
- Strict adherence to rules of confidentiality and other policies that define Code of Conduct.
- Must obtain an up-to-date Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Check if over the age of 18 years
- Must be willing to submit to pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing.
