JOB OVERVIEW: As a member of management and reporting to the Brokenhead Ojibway Chief and Council, the Executive Director will be responsible for the overall management of the CFS program that provides Intervention Services, Prevention and wellbeing and the future building of the BON CFS Childrens Lodge. They will provide expert specialized advice, consultation, and support to the delivery system, the CFS program, other BON partners and various stakeholders. This position analyzes children’s issues and trends as well as identifies and shares best practices and other jurisdictions to help communities achieve quality services. The Executive Director works closely with the Chief and Council, Program Managers, and BON Law Development promoting practices in the field that enhance service quality and good outcomes for children ensuring that the new relevant legislation is implemented and that the new service delivery model honors a family centered approach.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the services delivered are consistent with the vision, mission and core values of BON Child & Family Services.
  • Administers, monitors, and evaluates the effective delivery and implementation of the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation CFS Programs.
  • Recruits and supervises the child and family services employees.
  • Manages the financial responsibilities to ensure appropriate administration of the BON CFS Budget.
  • Acts as the liaison between BON CFS, the BON membership, the relevant federal and provincial government departments and other agencies as required.
  • a key team member and may be asked to carry out other duties and activities related to the effectiveness and the successful implementation of the CFS program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in the field of Social Services; BSW minimum, HBSW or MSW preferred.
  • 10 years + Executive Director Management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and energize multi-level work teams to respond and get results.
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic planning, legislative and policy development; in depth knowledge of issues, practices and management of CFS and the impact on children and families; services to children, family dynamics and an understanding of the sensitive situations families experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Excel (spreadsheets and pivot tables), PowerPoint, database application and e-mail, team meetings, and video conferencing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines and work without direct supervision.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract.
  • Fluency in Ojibway would be considered an asset.
  • Criminal Record Check and Child and Family services clearance check is required.
  • Must provide a pre-employment drug test and agree to future random drug testing.
