Treaty One Nation Responds to Manitoba Metis Federation Agreement with Federal Government

Treaty One Territory, Winnipeg MB – The Treaty One Nation congratulates the Manitoba Metis Federation for resolving its outstanding litigation with the federal government, putting to rest any further claims to Naawi-Oodena (the former Kapyong Barracks). 

“This landmark agreement is important in that it supports the MMF and their path toward reconciliation,” said Treaty One Spokesperson Chief Dennis Meeches.  “We congratulate President David Chartrand and the MMF as they continue to strengthen their nation-to-nation relationship with Canada.” 

Meeches added that the Treaty One Nation looks forward to working with the MMF in strengthening the voices of Indigenous peoples in Manitoba.
