Funds raised through sponsorships, ticket sales, and community support contribute to the Treaty One Awards, Bursaries, and Scholarship Program, which supports Treaty One members pursuing post-secondary education. Through needs-based bursaries and scholarships, the program helps reduce financial barriers, supports both tuition and living expenses, and opens pathways into academic, technical, and professional fields. About Treaty One Nations Treaty One Nations is composed of the seven First Nations who are signatories to the first of the 11 numbered Treaties, originally signed on August 3, 1871, at Lower Fort Garry after several days of discussions and ceremonies. In a 19-year process of coming together as a unified governing body, the seven Treaty No. 1 First Nations have cultivated a political relationship rooted in Nationhood and a solid foundation for collective governance, significant opportunities for long-term investment, and economic development. Treaty One Nations is guided by the Governing Council that is comprised of the seven Chiefs of the Treaty No. 1 First Nations. Nominations Now Open The Treaty One Awards recognize individuals whose leadership, dedication, and accomplishments continue to strengthen our Nations and communities. Nominations are now open for the 3rd Annual Treaty One Awards Gala. Community members are invited to nominate individuals from across the Treaty One Nations who demonstrate excellence, leadership, and a commitment to uplifting others. Whether through cultural revitalization, community service, entrepreneurship, education, youth leadership, or other areas of impact, these awards honour those who help move our Nations forward. Submitting a nomination is an opportunity to recognize those whose work often happens quietly but creates meaningful and lasting change. All nominations will be reviewed by the Treaty One Awards selection committee, and recipients will be honoured at the 3rd Annual Treaty One Awards Gala on May 26, 2026. Key Highlights Traditional Powwow A powerful expression of Anishinaabe culture and healing, bringing together dancers, singers, and community members to celebrate tradition through song and ceremony.
