Gas Attendant & Cashier

PURPOSE

The Gas Attendant and Cashier positions at Oodena Gas & Convenience Store play a vital role in creating a positive and welcoming customer experience at our Gas Bar, located at 1871 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. The Gas Attendant

is responsible for fueling vehicles, assisting with basic vehicle checks, and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the fueling area. The Cashier processes transactions, manages cash handling, and ensures excellent customer service at the point of sale. Both roles contribute to delivering high-quality service in a friendly and professional environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Gas Jockey

• Greet customers and assist with fueling vehicles.

• Ensure accurate fuel grade, quantity, and payment method.

• Clean front and rear windshields as requested.

• Check oil, washer fluid, and tire pressure upon request.

• Maintain cleanliness and safety around pumps.

• Restock windshield washer fluid stations.

• Clear snow and ice around pumps and walkways.

• Report safety hazards or suspicious activities.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Cashier

• Process transactions accurately for cash, debit, credit, and gift cards.

• Provide receipts and ensure correct change.

• Assist customers with product purchases and questions.

• Upsell store items and promotions.

• Handle refunds according to procedures.

• Answer phone calls and process delivery orders.

• Balance cash register at end of shift, reporting discrepancies.

• Stock shelves and maintain store cleanliness.

• Monitor product expiry dates and rotate stock.

• Accept deliveries and scan inventory.

• Clean washrooms according to procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

• Previous experience in customer service or retail (an asset).

• Familiarity with cashier systems and cash handling procedures (preferred).

• Knowledge of fuel safety regulations (an asset).

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Friendly, positive attitude with a focus on teamwork.

• Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.

• Dependable, punctual, and proactive in maintaining cleanliness and safety.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.

• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
