Marketing and Event Manager


PURPOSE

The Marketing and Event Manager plays a key role in leading communications, digital engagement, event promotion, and brand awareness initiatives for the Wiitahnookiinitaw Tahshkayzing Entrepreneurship Centre (WTEC). This position is ideal for a creative, organized, and motivated individual with experience in marketing, communications, content creation, and community engagement.

Reporting to WTEC leadership, the Marketing and Event Manager will support the promotion of WTEC programs, events, entrepreneurs, and community initiatives across multiple platforms, including the WTEC website, social media, print materials, and digital campaigns.

WTEC is an Indigenous-led initiative supporting entrepreneurship, innovation, and community-driven economic growth within Treaty One Nations and beyond. Through business development programs, mentorship, and collaborative space, WTEC supports aspiring and established entrepreneurs as they grow, connect, and thrive.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage and update the WTEC website, including edits, postings, and content updates.

Create, schedule, and manage social media content for platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.

Coordinate and promote WTEC events, workshops, networking opportunities, and community programming.

Develop marketing and communication materials to support WTEC programs, initiatives, entrepreneurs, and events.

Plan and implement strategies to increase community engagement, digital reach, and brand awareness.

Maintain consistent branding, messaging, and visual identity across all WTEC communications and platforms.

Collaborate with WTEC staff, mentors, entrepreneurs, and community partners to promote WTEC activities and success stories.

Assist with photography, content collection, storytelling, and promotional coverage for WTEC programming and events.

Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of WTEC events and engagement activities as needed.

Monitor communications needs and identify opportunities to strengthen WTEC’s public presence and community connections.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economic Development, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, Community Development, or a related field is required.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

Experience in marketing, communications, social media management, event promotion, or a related field is required.

Experience with website management, digital content creation, and online engagement is required.

Experience supporting events, workshops, community programming, or networking opportunities is considered an asset.

Graphic design, photography, videography, or content creation experience is considered an asset.

Cultural Knowledge

Understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures, and community-based initiatives is considered an asset.

Interest in supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs, Treaty One communities, and community-driven economic development is considered an asset.
