POSITION SUMMARY: The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Lands Department is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of GIS/Map Technician. Under the direction of the Lands Manager and Environmental Officer, the incumbent is responsible for a wide range of lands and administrative support functions. Duties will include, but not be limited to, general administrative support, operations of GIS and mapping, communications, correspondence monitoring related to land/environmental management activities, and report writing/preparation. Will be a key player in the planning, development and implementation of the BON Lands Data Management System.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience in Administrative Support and/or GIS training from a recognized college/program considered an asset
- Basic knowledge and ability to operate the GIS mapping program and GPS equipment
- Willingness to attend training and educational workshops to build capacity
- Excellent verbal, written skills, and time management skills
- Knowledge of management, organizational and planning principles is considered an asset
- Knowledge of a variety of computer programs like Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Analytical skills, formative record keeping and taking minutes
- Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be able to work, flexible hours, outside in a range of weather and terrain conditions, and able to travel upon request
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Persons Check required
- Must be willing to submit to pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing
