IT Technician

PURPOSE

The IT Technician will provide technical support and expertise to Treaty One Nations Inc., ensuring that all IT systems are operating efficiently. The IT Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing the organization’s technology infrastructure. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the IT Technician will assist in managing hardware, software, and network systems to support Treaty One Nation’s goals and day-to-day operations.

Treaty One Nations Inc. is committed to leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and facilitate communication across all departments. The IT Technician will play a key role in implementing and supporting technology solutions that align with organizational priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide technical support for all Treaty One Nations’ staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software, and peripherals.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of organizational data through regular backups and system updates.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control for organizational systems.
  • Monitor and maintain network performance, identifying and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for specialized IT solutions and support.
  • Assist in the procurement and inventory management of IT equipment and software licenses.
  • Provide training to staff on the use of technology tools and best practices.
  • Develop and document IT policies, procedures, and technical manuals.
  • Stay informed about advancements in technology and recommend updates or upgrades as needed.
  • Uphold Treaty One Nations’ values, principles, and cultural integrity in all IT initiatives.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, network administration, or a related role.
  • Proficiency with operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Experience with network management, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Knowledge of Treaty One First Nations and cultural values is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
