In addition, other important topics include the Treaty framework and structure, land rights, access to healthcare and education, as well as pathways towards further healing from the residential school system.     Anishinabe Days

The 2nd Annual Anishinabe Days Celebration, hosted by the Treaty One Nations, brings together members from across the Nations at Naawi-Oodena for a weekend filled with exciting activities. We have a great line-up of events, from a Traditional Pow Wow, to the return of our fan-favourite Anishinabe Idol Talent Show, free kids’ activities, an Indigenous Vendors Market, and food trucks, with fireworks on Saturday night, July 29.     Join us in Ceremony on August 3 at Lower Fort Garry to honour the 152nd anniversary since the signing of Treaty No. 1. To commemorate this important date, we will celebrate by beginning the day with a Pipe and Water Ceremony, to be followed by teachings on the History & Intent of the Treaties and a traditional feast.   We invite all to come together and be a part of this special celebration and to learn more about the Treaties. Your presence at the ceremonies on the historic grounds where the Treaty was signed will make this event truly memorable. Let's unite and honour our shared heritage on this important day!

    Join us for our Treaty One Land Code Information Sessions! We are excited to invite you to our upcoming information sessions, where the Treaty One Team will answer any questions you have about our Treaty One lands and about the upcoming vote being held for our community members. In addition, there will be refreshments and door prizes available for those in attendance! Naawi-Oodena is the first jointly held urban reserve of the seven Treaty One First Nations, located on the former the Kapyong Barracks lands in Winnipeg. As of December 16, 2022, Naawi-Oodena has officially been converted to joint reserve land and is slated to become the single largest First Nations-led Urban Economic Development Zone in Canada. A successful vote means that the seven First Nations can govern and manage our Treaty One lands—together—as one collective government. This land code DOES NOT affect the Peguis First Nation’s reserve lands.
